Identify the connection
Electric ranges usually have a heavy power cord or a hardwired connection. Gas ranges have a flexible connector and shutoff valve. If you are not certain which connection you have, stop and call a qualified technician.
Do not reuse a questionable gas connector
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has warned that some older flexible gas connectors can fail when an appliance is moved. A professional should inspect and disconnect the connection before pickup.
Remove loose pieces
Take out oven racks, broiler pans, burner grates, and other loose parts. Let the appliance cool and clean up grease that could make the surface slippery.
Protect the route
Clear the path and protect finished flooring. Tell the pickup team if the range sits on a raised platform or if a wall oven still needs to be released from cabinetry.
