Shut down the washer
Turn off both water valves, unplug the machine, and disconnect the fill hoses. Lower the drain hose into a bucket or floor drain so trapped water has somewhere safe to go.
Protect the drum and cords
Use the manufacturer shipping bolts when you still have them, especially for a front-load washer. Coil cords and hoses so they cannot drag under the appliance.
Treat gas dryers differently
A qualified professional should disconnect a gas dryer and make the connection safe. If the dryer is electric, unplug it from the wall and keep the heavy cord secured.
Share the access details
Mention stairs, stacked units, tight doors, or a long carry. A clear route lets the crew bring the right moving equipment and floor protection.
